Holiday Diffuser Blends for the Christmas Season

‘Tis the season for holiday cheer! Get yourself in the festive spirit with these 12 holiday diffuser blends.

I don’t know about you, but I used to be a huge Bath and Body Works fan. Every single season, I’d be in there hoarding all the seasonal candles, soaps, and lotions for my apartment. It was the highlight of the season change for me.

Of course, that was before I knew about the dangers of artificial fragrance and how unhealthy most candles are.

When I made the switch to essential oils for my home, not having those seasonal candles was the hardest part of the switch.

Luckily, over the years, I’ve built up quite a collection of oils and diffuser recipes, which makes the season change just as fun as it used to be. Only, instead of buying all the candles, I pull out all of my seasonal oils.

We’re inching closer to the first day of fall, so I’m currently diffusing these recipes, but I wanted to share some holiday diffuser blends with plenty of time for you to stock up on the oils you’ll need.

Holiday Diffuser Blend Recipes

When I think about Christmas, the main scents that come to mind for me are pine, cinnamon, clove, frankincense, peppermint, and orange. They’re the oils I make sure to have in stock as the holiday season approaches, and I use them all season long. These diffuser blends feature those 6 oils pretty heavily, with a few extras thrown in here or there. Check them out below, and if you need to buy oils, I’ve got my top recommendations at the bottom of this post!

Holiday Diffuser Blend Benefits

It’s no secret that essential oils can make your house smell good. People have been using them for that for years! But…is that really worth the investment in all of these oils and a diffuser? The answer is a resounding yes.

These holiday diffuser blends using essential oils have a lot of benefits you won’t see from just burning a candle. Let’s go over some of them:

Immune Support

As we head into the winter months, our immune systems become compromised. We’re spending less time outside getting vitamin D, more time in crowds (shopping, school, family gatherings, etc), and eating foods we don’t normally eat.

All of these things wreak havoc on our immune systems. That’s why I think it’s so fascinating that clove, cinnamon, peppermint, orange, nutmeg, ginger, pine, and all the scents you associate with Christmas can actually support your immune system! Nature (and our ancestors) really knew what they were doing, huh?

Respiratory Support

I don’t know about you, but every time the weather changes, I wake up stuffy and congested. Pair that with the abundance of germs, stress, lack of sleep, sweets, and everything else that hinders the immune system during the winter months, and you’re going to need something to help open up those airways and help you breathe easy.

Essential oils like peppermint, pine, eucalyptus, and cinnamon are great options when dealing with respiratory issues. And, if you notice, those are all key players in these holiday diffuser blends. It’s a win-win!

Reduce Stress

The holidays are my favorite time of year, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel some extra stress leading up to them. Crowded stores, budget worries, cleaning the house, hiding gifts from the kids, and a jam packed schedule are just some of the stressors that come with the season.

Thankfully, many of the essential oils featured in these diffuser blends are great for helping you unwind, calming the nervous system, and reducing stress.

Opt for blends with Frankincense, Orange Sweet, Bergamot, and Pine when you’re ready to unwind and calm your mind after a stressful day.

Clean the Air

Unlike candles or air fresheners, diffusing these blends can actually clean the air in your home while making it smell good.

With essential oils like cinnamon, clove, orange, and peppermint, you won’t just be masking smells. You’ll be cleaning the air of the germs that cause them!

With that in mind, be sure to diffuse one of these recipes (or add them to your favorite cleaner!) before expecting guests. You’ll wow them with the smell, but more importantly, you’ll also be purifying the air.

Where to Buy Essential Oils

Essential oils have grown wildly popular over the last few years, and it seems like every company that can has jumped on the bandwagon. Of course, this is great in some ways, because it sheds light on just how awesome aromatherapy can be.

But, it also causes us to use caution. Some companies are just out to make a buck, and don’t have the consumer’s best interest at heart.

Luckily, there are lots of reputable companies out there for you to buy your essential oils from. And, the best part is, they don’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

We get most of our essential oils from Plant Therapy, and have for over a year now. They’re a great, transparent company with a mission to get essential oils into as many homes as possible. They’re affordable, education based, and show their purity testing right on the product page. Plus, they offer free, fast shipping in the US, which was a huge bonus for me! Check them out right here.

Other companies I have tried and can recommend as reputable options:

  • Simply Earth Essential Oils: They also have themed monthly boxes, and I’m willing to bet there will be one coming up that’s holiday themed! (But I don’t know that for a fact). Use code ANGIECRUISEFREE to get a free Big Bonus Box & $40 gift card with your first subscription box.
  • Rocky Mountain Oils: A direct-to-consumer essential oil company that offers fair prices, premium products, and purity testing right on their site.
