These juicy grilled turkey burgers are packed full of flavor and kid approved. With only a few simple ingredients, you can throw these together in no time!

One thing I love about living on the Texas coast is that grilling season never really ends. I love grilling, because not only is it naturally a healthier way to cook, but it also gives dishes more flavor. Plus, you really can’t beat the clean up!

So, our grill gets used a lot, and if you know me at all, you know I have a hard time turning down a good grilled burger. In an effort to not overdo the red meat, I’ve started making turkey burgers so I can have a little less guilt about how many I eat.

As a result, these pesto turkey burgers have become a favorite! They’re so simple to make, and they’re loaded with flavor, too! Give these a try next time you light up the grill. Top them with some mozzarella or colby jack cheese, arugula, and pair it with some sweet potato fries for a meal packed with flavor and color.

Grilled Turkey Burgers with Pesto

I love this recipe because it’s so easy to make. The actual meat only takes two ingredients: pesto and ground turkey! Plus, they’re loaded with flavor. Of course, you can cook them on the stovetop, too, but I think the grill really adds that final touch.


  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 3 tbs pesto
  • whole wheat buns
  • arugula
  • sliced cheese (we used colby-jack but mozzarella or provolone would be amazing as well!)
  • salt & pepper to taste


Preheat your grill to medium-high. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, pesto, salt, and pepper using your hands. Form the mixture into 4 even sized patties. Place your patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minute per side, or until cooked though all the way.

Serve burgers on a whole-wheat bun, topped with your favorite cheese, a small dollop of fresh pesto, arugula, and a side of sweet potato fries.

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 3 tbs pesto
  • 1 cup arugula
  • sliced cheese (optional)
  • whole wheat buns
  • salt and pepper (to taste)


  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • In a large bowl, mix pesto, ground turkey, salt and pepper with your hands. Form into 4 equal patties.
  • Grill burger patties on medium-high heat for approximately 4 minutes per side, or until fully cooked through.
  • Serve on a whole wheat bun with a dollop of fresh pesto, a slice of cheese, and some fresh arugula.
